If you like Paul Simon, you are going to love Clayton Joseph Scott’s band, More Love. CJS opened for Naked Soul at the Boom Boom Room here in San Francisco recently and blew me away. The upbeat and hugely positive music produced by this talented band from Valencia, CA is sure to have you swaying back and forth in a love-filled haze and probably dancing the night away before you even realize what is happening. Taking a glance around the room, you see the gentle smiles growing on everyone’s faces and then smile more yourself. With the primary message being the name of the band, More Love, it is easy to swoon at the sweet sound of CJS’s vocals and thrill at the impressive percussion solos. Not having listened to more than a few bars of a song before I attended the show, I was pleasantly surprised to find I was singing along almost immediately. CJS has a gentle and warm stage presence and makes you feel like a friend as he introduces a handful of songs with perfectly natural little anecdotes and enthusiasms. He had the whole room spread their ‘wings’ in anticipation of Ready to Fly, and made more than a few in the crowd blush while introducing Love Fool with a story about morning sex. While the live shows are feel-good fantastic, make sure you do not leave without grabbing a CD. The recording quality is outstanding and many of the tracks have valuable bonuses like guest vocals from Ayo Adeyemi on the track On My Way, and a great rap addition by J Brave on the track More Love. I for one cannot wait to see them perform again!
An awesome new video for CJS!
