Young Dubliners

Dubs

They say that St. Paddy’s day brings out the Irish in all of us…well, I’m here to inform you that at the Young Dubliners concert, everyone is Irish, too. For five years now, I’ve been catching every Young Dubs show I can and have yet to come away disappointed. Their brazen Celtic Rock is guaranteed to get you moving like a river dancer and smiling from ear to ear. The Dubs are a delicious blend of traditional Irish reels and blow-your-face-off Irish-American rock. Dave and Bob provide fiendishly impressive drum and lead guitar while Ireland natives, Kieth and Brendan, dish out rousing vocals with some wicked bass lines. Their shows are perfectly balanced between heart pumping, feet stomping, sing-alongs like Rosie and beautiful traditional ballads like A Pair of Brown Eyes, always generously punctuated with the transfixing fiddle solos and featurettes by the ever-thrilling Chas.  These touring veterans always bring a musically tight show…even two broken guitar strings at The Mystic Theater in Petaluma last night didn’t stop the music.  Guitars were switched mid-song without a hiccup, restrung and used a couple songs later.  The performance is always engaging as Kieth takes time to relate stories and dedications in our favorite Irish accent and colloquialisms.  These boys are not to be missed and fortunately, they tour constantly! Check out their schedule for the next show near you and be prepared to scream and stomp at the end of the show to ensure you get the always rewarding Rocky Road to Dublin encore.
